Job Description
- Assist with the implementation of the annual business plan and targets and execute the strategic agenda of the Legal function to deliver the clients vision and mission.
- Coordinate the activities of the Legal team to ensure that all work is carried out efficiently, in line with the strategic project management plans, policies and procedures.
- Develop & negotiate forms of contract to facilitate permanent and defined-term business relationships, including but not limited to joint-ventures, partnerships, alliances, and consortiums.
- Draft, review, and advise on various forms of memorandums of understanding, joint-venture agreements, service agreements, non-disclosure agreements, EPC, D&B, Traditional, lump sum, re-measure agreements, sale and purchase agreements, consultancy agreements, licensing agreements, novation agreements, call off agreements, cooperation agreements, facilities management agreements, supply agreements, guarantees, amendment agreements, assignment agreements and other types of commercial agreements.
- Advise on legal issues including claims and variations arising from projects in regard to scheduling, coordinating and interfacing between the client and appointed contractors.
- Provide support to all divisions of the Legal, PPP and commercial/procurement departments during all phases of construction and development projects.
The Successful Applicant
- Bachelors & Master's degrees in law required and admission as a lawyer/attorney/solicitor/barrister in home country.
- The candidate must have an extensive background in construction and development projects and related matters and in all forms of commercial contracts and ancillary agreements related to PPPs, construction and development having extensively advised upon, negotiated, drafted, and reviewed construction and development projects documentation and be conversant with relevant Sharia law principles, KSA regulations and policies.
- Experience with both legal and commercial aspects of large-scale utility PPP projects in KSA.
- Must have between 10-15 years post-qualification experience working for a well-regarded in-house company and/or private practice law firm in KSA.
- Must have significant experience with large scale development and construction projects.
- Experience in dispute resolution including arbitration and alternative dispute resolution.
- Must be admitted or eligible to practice law in the Middle East or a Commonwealth jurisdiction.
