1. BACKGROUND AND INTRODUCTION
About CRP
Collateral Repair Project (CRP) is a grassroots effort in Amman, Jordan that has provided much-needed assistance to vulnerable communities since 2006. We seek to assist those in need, foster social cohesion, offer learning opportunities, and help in building peace and reconciliation. Our services are provided regardless of background, and we currently provide assistance to people from many nationalities (e.g. Syria, Iraq, Jorda, Sudan, Yemen, Somalia). CRP’s holistic approach involves deep community engagement, where we help individuals build resilience and heal from trauma. At our Family Resource and Community Centers, CRP provides a variety of educational, recreational, and wellness activities, which aid our community to gain skills and build community. Additionally, we provide community service and leadership opportunities for people to serve others, which has proven to be a key driver of empowerment and resilience. CRP’s greatest strengths are the deep knowledge and trust we have established with the community we serve, our commitment to community-based engagement, and our ability to develop nuanced, cost-effective, and impactful programs. Our team members are dynamic, empathetic, and creative problem solvers who actively serve our community by continuously enhancing the impact of our programs and bringing our work to the forefront of best practice.
About Livelihoods Program
Vocational training has been widespread in Jordan and has had limited success in providing job opportunities for refugees and vulnerable Jordanians. Too often, job opportunities require costly transportation to access and do not take into account women’s daily commitments or family cultures hesitant for them to work far afield. Informal approaches often are not coherent with community needs and don't provide an easy avenue for trained participants to practice and master their skills. There is a lack of income generation activities that are holistic and tailored to trade needs within the local communities in Amman, and this results in reduced impact and sustainability.
CRP plans to broaden the scope of our livelihoods programming and to deepen community engagement in identifying and implementing income generation activities that not only benefit individuals and their families but also local neighborhoods. CRP has long-time experience and expertise in engaging our community and strengthening their ties and believe that this pilot project is exactly where we need to start to build on our substantial previous work.
About the project
Homes in East Amman’s impoverished neighborhoods widely suffer from neglect, water damage, and lack of insulation; many are unhygienic and unsafe. The majority of urban refugee communities are concentrated in these neighborhoods. The 2021-22 UN Vulnerability Assessment Framework (VAF) cites that 54.5% of Syrians and other nationalities are living in inadequate and unsafe housing conditions. The lack of income makes it difficult for families to improve their housing conditions, which further exacerbates their health and mental health challenges in a vicious cycle.
CRP conducted needs assessments that included field visits in the community and noted that they suffer from mold and need to be fixed, isolated, and repainted every two-three years in response to the Amman climate and so this mold does not affect the health of the residents especially children and elders with respiratory issues. The Learning and Applying Home Maintenance Aspects project aims to improve housing conditions of vulnerable households located in East Amman, Hashemi Shamali, through empowering youth and women with learning and vocational experience and skills that they can use to earn a living and minimize idleness.
2. POSITION OBJECTIVES
The Project Assistant will support the implementation of a livelihood project on vocational and soft skills management for community members that will increase opportunities of income generations. The Project Assistant will work closely with the Project Manager, community members, Procurement Officer and MEL department to ensure a high quality of project
implementation. Under the supervision of the Project Manager and in close cooperation with the Livelihoods Program Manager, expected responsibilities include:

Contribute to data collection and requirements analysis during the project outreach phase

Assist in the development and implementation of project activities

support developing the processes and procedures that are efficient, fit for purpose and

most importantly compliant with applicable laws and regulations.

Monitor and report on progress of improvement initiatives while also identifying barriers

and risks and developing effective solutions in close collaboration with the project

manager

Support project procurement and logistics activities

Ensure full documentation of project achievement and success stories
3. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Relevant bachelor’s degree in economy, development, social development or administration and 0 – 2 years of experience in activities related to livelihood and vocational projects OR 3 – 5 years of experience in similar projects

Extensive experience in facilitating and conducting training sessions to participants with different backgrounds

Experience writing reports, presentations, and training materials

Effective cross-cultural interpersonal skills

Fluency in English and Arabic
