“Energy advisor”
on full-time base employment
Qualifications and specialist knowledge
Post-graduate university degree (M.Sc., M.A. or equivalent) in engineering, business engineering, economics, policy, or a related field
Business fluency in English and Arabic, German language skills are an asset
At least 7 years of professional experience in the energy sector
Prior experience in international co-operation is an asset
Prior experience in working with or consulting Jordanian government institutions
Good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
Managerial, teamwork and organisational skills
Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
Core tasks
In your role, you are responsible for the technical, substantive, and organisational implementation of a project’s measures and activities. In consultation with your line manager, you also assume tasks related to planning, steering, and monitoring the project, including project administration tasks in some cases. You are also responsible for providing specialist support to colleagues in bands 2 and 3, and ensuring the quality of the commission’s outcomes.
In addition, you contribute to the conceptual design of the project, in particular its modification or realignment.
You make technical and substantive contributions to overarching issues in cooperation with commissioning parties/clients, partners, and other actors and thereby support the achievement of the agreed objectives of the respective project and provide an impetus for further strategy development.
In coordination with the country director and your line manager, you also use your contacts for the acquisition of contracts on behalf of the company.
In consultation with your team colleagues and line manager, you also coordinate all issues within your area of work and ensure that they are dealt with promptly and competently. You resolve problems that arise in your area of responsibility on the basis of existing rules and draw attention to more complex challenges in your team.
In consultation with your line manager, under your role you may assume management responsibility for staff members in band 1, with due regard for P+R and GIZ’s applicable HR policies, instruments and procedures.
You are involved in ongoing process development within your remit, are responsible for knowledge management and prepare and share documentation. If required, you also support other experts in familiarising themselves with and performing their tasks.
You perform the tasks assigned to you by your line manager, where required.
Main responsabilities:
Independently manage up to four areas of activity of the Jordanian-German Energy Partnership in co-ordination with the local and global project teams. This includes, but is not limited to, co-ordination with the political partner, management of third-party contractors, co-ordination with other units within GIZ, drafting of reports, concept notes, and similar, preparation of events

Participate in the monitoring of the project and reporting to the commissioning party through preparation of reports and co-ordination with the global project team and the political partner
Contribute to the development and expansion of the Jordanian-German Energy Partnership and the Global Energy Partnerships programme through engagement with relevant stakeholders internally and externally, drafting of reports and concept notes, and similar
Contribute to the portfolio development in the fields of green hydrogen and sustainable transport through engagement and co-ordination with relevant stakeholders internally and externally, managing an internal working group on sustainable transport, drafting of reports and concept notes, and similar
