Common Year Coordinator
Job Description
College/Department Profile
Duties & Responsibilities
- Liaisewith common yearcoordinators to ensure outcomes, instructional methods, contentand assessment strategies are unified across QU Health colleges
- Arrangeperiodic meetings with common year coordinators to ensure constructive andconsistent alignment across QU Health colleges
- Analyze student grades incommon year courses in semester basis and provide recommendations to improvecourses
- Developannual report on students progress and success rate with proposed action plansof improvements
- Workin partnership with the senior learning specialist in each college to identifystudents at risk and provide recommendations for improvement
- Serves as point personand information source for all common year courses
- Develop approaches tofoster communication and collaboration across colleges to coordinate coursesdevelopment
- Assistcolleges in conducting evaluation to identify and evaluate success of courselearning outcomes, consider new assessment methods and any areas of improvement
- Collaboratewith various committees to review related academic policies, course revisions,and other matters relating to academic affairs
- Collaboratewith Student Affairs office on the creation and maintenance of relevant databasefor common year courses details
- Workunderthe supervision ofthe Director of academic quality to ensure the achievement of stated commonyear aims and learning outcomes
- Extractperiodic data using the Student Information Systems (SIS), Cognos for thesupport of the common year courses
- Liaisewith Assistant Deans for students affairs offices at QU Health to schedulemidterm and final exams
- Assistswith schedule development and resolves course conflicts with other departments
