Petrofac is looking to recruit a Legal Advisor to join our Legal Services Team based in Sharjah, UAE.

Main purpose of the role:
- To give timely, high quality, pragmatic, commercial legal advice.
- To help identify, qualify and mitigate legal risk (including associated material commercial risks) and add value by enabling well-informed decisions.
- To support and drive organisational change, legal process improvements and support resourcing the business to understand and address legal risk.
Key Accountabilities:
- Advise on implementation of corporate DoAs, contracting protocols (best practice) or similar.
- Draft and negotiate preliminary agreements (e.g. confidentiality agreements, MOUs, heads of terms, bidding, consortium, collaboration, joint-venture and shareholder agreements).
- Provide commercially pragmatic legal advice to bid teams and projects in many jurisdictions. Advise on implications of applicable local laws; engage, and manage external legal advisers to ensure appropriate and cost-effective advice is given.
- Review proposed terms and conditions, support commercial functions with interpretation, analysis and drafting of qualifications (client-facing, subcontractors and suppliers).
Skills and Experience:
- Professionally qualified lawyer (solicitor/barrister) with a UK or equivalent (and current, clean) professional practising certificate.
- Minimum of 5-8 years’ PQE
- Mix of private practice background (litigation and/or projects), with in-house experience preferred.
- Drafting, contract interpretation, influencing, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent technical legal skills, common law and/or civil law and commercial legal experience including good knowledge of construction and engineering law. Experience of dispute-resolution (inc litigation, arbitration, contractual escalation, expert determination, mediation, ADR, DRBs, DABs) is important.
