KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Under the direct supervision of Programme Associate (Nutrition) and overall supervision by the Programme Policy Officer in Maungdaw Field Office, the incumbent will perform the following duties: –

  • Assist in the development and implementation of various nutrition activities and processes, supporting alignment with established targets, strategies and guidelines.
  • Assist in liaising with Cooperating Partners (CPs) to support effective collaboration, implementation and monitoring of ongoing nutrition activities to ensure entitlements received are as per programme guidelines.
  • Assist in planning and ensuring implementation, by WFP and/or CPs, of nutrition education interventions. Whenever possible, coordinate activities with other partners for complementary nutrition sensitive activities (agriculture sector, wash sector, etc).
  • Conduct nutrition monitoring activities, including the establishment of regular MUAC measurement of children and maintain data in the database.
  • Monitor admission and discharge of beneficiaries to nutrition programme by CPs in all distribution points and MAM centers and make sure that admission and discharge are performed in line with WFP protocols.
  • Monitor beneficiary register of CPs and assist in evaluating nutrition situation and prevailing trends on the progress of all beneficiaries.
  • Ensure Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) and Social Behaviour Change and Communication (SBCC) education is disseminated to the target beneficiaries by CPs and involve in the preparation of key IYCF and health messages in reference to the existing health and nutrition education materials.
  • Participate in food distributions and cooking demonstration sessions conduction, and deliver nutrition messages to the community, particularly to the beneficiaries of blanket nutrition distribution according to programme requirement.
  • Conduct joint home visit to beneficiaries under both MAM prevention and MAM treatment programme in order to verify and observe nutritional awareness, maternal and childcare practice, ration storage, utilization and IYCF practice of the care givers at household level.
  • Compile statistical data and prepare draft reports of nutritional relevant events including food management, distribution and other related issues at field level by CPs.
  • Identify any apparent issues in the programme and report them to the appropriate personnel.
  • Assist other nutrition support staff, providing practical advice and guidance, to contribute to delivering objectives to agreed standards and deadlines.
  • Ensure that the update COVID-19 prevention measures are adhered in all types of nutrition activities by all CPs and follow up the supply and proper utilization of PPE items by staff as well as by food handler at distribution points.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

  • Completion of secondary education. Relevant post-secondary qualification will be an added advantage.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Four or more years of responsible programme experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office skills in Excel and PowerPoint.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Proficient in the use of office equipment and computer software packages, such as Microsoft Word.
  • Knowledge of work routines and methods to complete processes under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously independently.
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, develop, plan and manage programs, leadership and teamwork skills, good analytical, communication, negotiation and advocacy skills;
  • Ability to work in a team and establish effective working relationships with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

LANGUAGE

  • Fluency in both oral and written communication in Myanmar and English.
  • Knowledge of local language is an asset.
