MEDICAL INFORMATICS SPECIALIST
Job Description
Summary
Provides expert level consultation in Medical Informatics. Acts a pivotal role in coordinating Applications Specialists tasks in order to enable the Clinical Information System to meet Hospital needs.Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Analyses Hospital business and mission-related information requirements and formulates appropriate computing solutions.
- Facilitates and supports the realization of the objectives of end-user groups and informatics planning committees.
- Coordinates joint planning and implementation of end-user informatics solutions.
- Initiates projects to evaluate and recommend appropriate solutions to clinical computing problems in the Hospital.
- Participates in the development and implementation of, and adherence to, Hospital standards for end-user computing practices, methodologies, and information management.
- Investigates informatics problem areas and recommends/implements solutions.
- Plays an active role in the formulation of guidelines for, and participates in, planning, priority setting, adoption and utilization of appropriate end-user products, and the design and development of related procedures.
- Supervises liaisons tasks between the end-user departments and Medical and Clinical Informatics Section.
- Coordinates training the Applications Specialists to ensure continuous and efficient service to end-users.
- Keeps up-to-date with in-house and leading-edge technological developments in information systems and planning methodologies in order to promote integrated informatics solutions.
- Provides administrative as well as technical direction to the Applications Specialists. This includes supervision and performance evaluations of employees.
- Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.
