ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

This role is the Office of Inspections and Investigations (OIGI) located in Headquarters, Rome, Italy and will report to the Forensics Investigations Officer P4.

THE ROLE

Assist in providing digital forensic services during investigations and archiving processes; the position will serve as focal point between OIGI and TECI (Cyber Security), HQ services, TECM and OIGI Administrative teams.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Forensics Analysis:

  • Assist in providing digital forensic services, including recovery and acquisition of evidence from IT equipment, preservation and management of evidence using best industry practices during an investigation and archiving;
  • Assist in the analysis of evidence, including device data extraction, recovery of corrupt data, electronic mail extraction and database examination;
  • Perform regular data mining and analytical procedures using appropriate tools (e.g. Intella, Cellebrite, Encase) to assist in investigations, including regular data mining to highlight potentially fraudulent activity.
  • Assist in performing OSINT extractions and analysis;
  • Perform comprehensive technical analysis and interpret evidence contained in digital data such as e-mail, various databases, and information stored on electronic devices using forensic tools and methods;
  • Develop and execute Scripts in the following programming languages (Python and Java);
  • Assist in the implementation of electronic discovery, computer forensic investigations, and related services for large data sets;
  • Collect pertinent information related to OIGI cases utilising WFP’s corporate databases, including SAP, and available public databases;
  • Review the collected data along with OIGI case materials, analyse the data and produce comprehensive analytical reports;
  • Carry out any other duty as instructed by the OIGI Forensics Officer (P4)/or management team

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (continue)

Forensics Administration tasks:

  • Forensic Laboratory management
  • Document the chain of custody process for forensic evidence, as well as
  • evidence acquisition and analysis methods • OIGI inventory management
  • OIGI servers patching and maintenance
  • Forensics Case management data entry and population of data
  • Coordination with COs for evidence return
  • OIGI evidence safe and storage management

OIGI IT support:

  • Using special software and hardware restricted to OIGI, support the entire OIGI team when they require IT assistance with investigations.

Liaison:

  • Serve as focal point for OIGI and TECI (Cyber Security), HQ services, TECM and OIGI Admin teams for all matters requiring coordination.

QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

You have:

  • University degree in Digital Forensics, Cyber Forensics, Forensics Science or Advanced Computer Engineering

EXPERIENCE:

You have:

  • 3 years of relevant, experience in Digital Forensics Investigations

LANGUAGE:

You have:

  • International Professional: Fluency (level C) in English language.
  • Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or Portuguese (a WFP working language).

MORE ABOUT YOU

You have:

  • Demonstrated expertise in theories, concepts and approaches relevant to investigations and practical use of investigation techniques.
  • Skills in coordination of multiple investigations and delivery of planned outputs.
  • Familiarity with the use of various research methodologies and sources, including electronic sources and databases.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • The positions are open to all nationalities.

  • While WFP does support flexible working arrangements, the positions are based in Rome and would require the selected candidate to relocate.

  • The selected candidate will be employed on a renewable fixed-term contract (up to 8 years) with a probationary period of one year.

  • WFP offers an attractive compensation and benefits package, including basic salary, post adjustment, relocation entitlement, travel and shipment allowances, 30 days’ annual leave, home leave, an education grant for dependent children, pension plan and medical insurance.
