Quality Assurance Lead – Ethylene

Job Description
We are currently seeking a Quality Assurance Lead, to support the Detail Design, Procurement, Quality assurance, and Startup phases of Ras Laffan Petrochemicals Project. The Project includes an Ethylene Unit, Polyethylene Units, Buildings, Product Bagging, Port infrastructure, and associated utilities. This position will be located long term in either Asia or Europe (18 Months), and then mobilizing to Qatar through the completion of the project. The total duration for this assignment is expected to be 46 months.
Responsibilities
The Quality Assurance Lead is responsible for providing Quality Assurance during the Detailed Engineering and Design phase of the project and provide oversight for the Quality Assurance team during the Quality assurance phase in the field. This individual will work closely with the Project team, the EPC contractor, the Area Construction Manager, and the Quality Assurance Manager.
This individual will assist and ensure the EPC Contractor performs the following activities as required and to Company's Expectations:

  • Supports the establishment of the companysafety culture at the construction site
  • Ensures EPC Contractors QA/QC program is fully functional in accordance with contract requirements
  • Assists in the development of Project specifications by Contractor and in resolution of specifications conflicts
  • Assists in confirming engineering design meets all Code requirements
  • Reviews Contractor plans and procedures for performing vendor quality assurance activities, including development of equipment and discipline specific Inspection and Test Plans, and ensuring inclusion of critical Owner specification requirements and hold points
  • Participates in design evaluations and make recommendations for quality assurance
  • Reviews Contractor detailed design documentation and specifications
  • Reviews engineering deliverables and supplier documentation for compliance with QA requirements, clarity and completeness, incorporation of Project specifications, industry best practices, and NDE and testing processes required to ensure quality of the product
  • Monitors effectiveness of Project and Contractor Quality Management Systems
  • Participates in value improving practices
  • Ensures a safe startup by following tenets, all company and plant procedures, and using available technical resources
  • Provides quality assurance insights with regards to Quality execution plan, constructability review, right-sizing quality assurance manpower levels and quality assurance systems
  • Provides quality assurance insights and supports PMT SME's with regards to engineering, installation and construction deliverables
  • Ensures quality assurance issues and conflicts are resolved in the best interest of the Company driving the lowest cost options

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of an Associate Degree with 7+ years of relevant experience in quality assurance B.S. in Engineering a plus
  • Previous major capital project experience working with EPC Contractors
  • Petrochemicals industry experience with experience in Ethylene design and installation is a plus
  • Must be a self-starter with desire to lead and take responsibility
  • Must have strong commitment to personnel and process safety
  • Must have knowledge of Industry Standards
  • Commitment and flexibility to work in the detailed engineering office
  • Commitment to relocate internationally to engineering office and quality assurance site
  • Commitment to stay on the project through startup and stable operations
  • Excellent leadership and team building skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Demonstrate ability to interact effectively with internal and external organizations such as the Project Management Team, EPC contractor, Main Automation Contractor, and counterparts in other scopes
