The Role
- Primarily responsible for the planning, selecting, and buying of merchandise for multibrand and monobrand stores.
- Define and maintain a buying strategy which matches customer profile, market requirements and the direction of the Business.
- Take direction from the Senior Buyer on all key financial, brand and range decisions. This role will be responsible for ensuring that these decisions are communicated effectively to all concerned both internally and externally and followed up accordingly.
- Guide, train and delegate assistant buyers developing their capabilities to evolve to next level.
- This role is for a womenswear-ready to wear, accessories and handbags
Responsibilities:
- Ensure buys are placed timely, they are set up accurately and communicated to suppliers so that on-time delivery is also achieved.
- Develop and maintain excellent relationships with suppliers to aim for growth.
- Coach, support and guide the Assistant Buyers on training of team, and overall assessment of individual performance and training needs.
- Build new relationships with vendors and to grow existing relationship with partners
- Buyers should be skilled in all the buying disciplines relating to brand, product selection, margin and OTB management.
- Plan effectively, prioritize and work under pressure as the number of brands and number of contacts will be significant
- Create necessary documents such as buying reports, competitive analysis, marketing presentations, etc relevant to the buying process.
- Negotiate commercial terms with suppliers
The Candidate
- 2-3 years being buying or brand management experience in retail operations
- Qualification in marketing, Commercial studies, retail, or business management.
Experience:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized with focused attention to detail.
- Highly motivated and must be able to demonstrate they can step up to the next level
- Good negotiation skills
- Can handle time constraints and pressure
- Genuine interest in fashion
