Location Winterbourne, South Gloucestershire
Teacher of Social Sciences (0.8 FTE – Monday – Thursday)
Contract: Fixed term
Duration: 1st September 2022 – 31st December 2022
The Role
We are looking to appoint an outstanding, highly motivated and committed, part-time (up to 0.8 FTE) Teacher of Social Sciences, with a focus on Sociology A-level and the WJEC Level 3 Diploma in Criminology. This is a fixed-term appointment until the end of December 2022 although there may be potential for the post to continue for the right candidate. These subjects fit within the wider Social Sciences Faculty at Winterbourne Academy, which features four subjects at KS4 and eight at KS5. At KS4 we currently offer BTEC Health & Social Care, GCSE Sociology, GCSE Business and Level 2 Cambridge National in Marketing & Enterprise, and Business at both A Level and L3 Cambridge Technical, along with Sociology, Criminology, Law, Psychology, Health & Social Care and Economics. If you have experience in any of the subjects listed, please make reference to that in your application. The successful candidate will be required to deliver high quality lessons, motivate, challenge and inspire our students. They will be committed to closing gaps and raising attainment across all abilities, whatever the starting point. They should have a strong sense of team work, a willingness to contribute to the faculty and a desire to improve their own and the faculty’s practice. We are also looking for candidates who will form positive relationships with students and their parents/carers, to support them and gain their trust. The Academy
Winterbourne Academy is a vibrant and highly successful academy in South Gloucestershire (on the outskirts of Bristol). It is the largest secondary school in the county and is part of a family of schools operated under the leadership of the Olympus Academy Trust. The Trust currently comprises ten South Gloucestershire schools; one all-through, four secondary and five primary academies, a University Technical College and a secondary Free School which is yet to be built.
