Social Protection Program Coordinator
Job Description and Requirements The Syrian American Medical Society Foundation (SAMS) is a nonprofit, non-partisan, non-religious medical relief organization, with a mission to provide lifesaving healthcare services and to revitalize health systems for underprivileged Syrian refugees, internally displaced persons, and vulnerable host community members in zones of conflict and displacement. This is done by implementing an integrated model of essential services that emphasize priority needs, including the delivery of medical education, training, and financial support to physicians and other healthcare workers in Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Greece, and Iraq. Along with the provision of healthcare services and medical training, the SAMS Foundation also implements mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) programs, as well as protection against gender-based violence (GBV).
Job Summary/Purpose:
Under the supervision of MHPSS Program Manager, The position therein titled Social Protection Program Coordinator will be implemented in SAMS PSS projects in Amman. The position will require managing a team of Psychologists, Counselors, Social Workers attending to and caring for beneficiaries receiving services in MHPSS Centers.The rationale for this post is: to improve the work flow as related to PSS programs and support both Jordan PSS program and potential Regional PSS programs.
Key Tasks and Duties:

Clinical/Technical:
– Provide individual sessions for beneficiaries only 20% of his/her time.
– Provide documentation – Progress Notes for each session and Treatment Plans.
– Provide weekly/monthly and quarterly reports.
– Monitor and evaluate staff documentation of beneficiaries files.
– Oversee and review the work of data entry.
– Keep updated on research and therapeutic techniques for the treatment and care of beneficiaries.
– Supervise the case conference session. *
Capacity Building:
– Provide training to staff on: goals of MHPSS projects, deadline requirements, clinical rules and regulations, and any updated program/workshop.
– Coordination of the training applied by the PSS team. – Develop the capacity of the clinicians; tracking their progress toward meeting objectives. – Oversee the training material development as requested to improve staff capacity and facilitate improvement of the overall program.
– Assist with staff evaluation.
– Facilitate the process of cooperation with other SAMS PSS Specialist. *
Design of the MHPSS Program:
– Provide documentation for the activities occurring in the PSS Clinics in Jordan- with the assistance of the clinicians.
– Lead the process of implementing new programs, workshops, and schedules, with the focus on key outputs and outcomes. – Participate in revision of the program/workshop design, methodologies, and identify the important changes per the assessed needs of beneficiaries. *
Program Coordination and Supervision:
– Work closely with the MHPSS Program Manager to manage the implementation of the program activities. – Maintain the proper documentation of all stages of the project planning and implementation, data records, and share with the relevant departments. – Provide support for organizing visits, meetings, events, training, and sessions related to this MHPSS Program.
– Supervise staff providing individual and group treatment to beneficiaries. – Supervise the Outreach Team Leader in order to provide the necessary social services needed for the beneficiaries.
– Coordinate remote meetings with cross-border psychological support team mmebers.
– Assist in coordinating scientific seminars and conferences related to mental health.
– Coordination and cooperation with other departments in the organization.
– Assisting in conducting interviews for new employees. *
Monitoring and Evaluation of Quality:
– Provide quality assurance and monitoring as related to tracking the progress of services provided to beneficiaries.
– Monitor staff needs in regards to fulfillment of agreed upon job role and duties.
– Play the role of primary contact point between MHPSS manager, program staff, and field staff.
– Support the MHPSS Program Manager to ensure both short and long term positive.
– Operations management to the center cost.
Experience and Education
* Bachelor's degree, preferred Master, in Clinical Psychology or any related field in Psychology or Counselor.
* Minimum 5 years of experience. * Fluency in English and Arabic. * Experience building capacity of staff based on the presenting needs- as related to the role and responsibility of the job.
* Experience conducting trainings and development of training materials.
* Experience and knowledge regarding working in the field of Mental Health.
