Job Description and Requirements
Job Function/ Description:

Provide GIS technical advice, skill development, and mentoring to RefuGIS team members with GIS skill levels ranging from novice to expert.
Manage GIS projects assigned to the RefuGIS team in terms of allocation of project technical tasks to RefuGIS team members, quality control of final products, and curation of final products and datasets.
Train and mentor RefuGIS team members on how to teach GIS to other refugees.
Develop GIS learning pathways for RefuGIS team members to advance from novice to expert levels.
Assess professional progress and development of individual RefuGIS team members.
Utilize and advance existing RefuGIS project efforts in terms of technology use.
Liaison with UNHCR and implementing partners on RefuGIS activities and outreach.
Oversees all geospatial data management activities and conducts related technology and data analysis.
Responsible for aiding in all project information services, primarily data management, GPS support and data collection and processing and reporting quality control.
Managing geospatial and file based documents to ensure data quality standards are maintained, editing geospatial data and preparing cartographic products.
Oversee geospatial verification and training others in the use of geospatial software systems.
Coordinate GIS activities with the project staff, Software Development and IT teams.
Perform GIS data quality control of field data. The process of quality control includes reviewing the data for completeness and accuracy, identifying, correcting errors or omissions in the data and insuring that that data is stored correctly in the project GIS database, including, correct coordinate projection and metadata.
Capture GIS data in different formats using GPS, heads up digitizing and other means.
Perform GIS data quality control of data collected from external sources. The process of quality control includes reviewing the data for completeness and accuracy, identifying and correcting errors or omissions in the data and insuring that that data is stored correctly in the database and updating metadata.
Perform GIS spatial analyses as required.
Create map layouts, map templates, map icons, generate maps, generate reports and insure that the maps and reports are stored in the database correctly.
Develop new applications, tools, techniques or methods to improve workflow and train others in their use.
Provide information and details in support of monthly reports on all activities.
Perform all other duties as assigned by Blumont senior management.
 

Required Education & Experience:

University level degree in GIS or any related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in GIS field
 

Skills Required:

Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic language (reading, writing and speaking). NGO background is preferable.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen and respect for colleagues. Must be capable of working both individually and as part of a team.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment. 
Must have knowledge with ESRI ArcGIS for Desktop software, Strong GIS skills with two or more GIS packages.
A basic understanding of the concepts behind data management in a relational database.
knowledge of cartographic projections, survey techniques,
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, (Excel) skills.
Knowledge of Adobe, Photoshop, illustrator skills
Understanding of and/or willing to learn math and statistical analysis
Genuinely excited and enthusiastic about learning and pushing technical limits / finding new solutions.
