Background 

USAID Water Governance Activity (WGA) program is a multi-year project funded by USAID, which aims to support the Government of Jordan (GoJ) to achieve measurable improvements and greater sustainability of the water sector by providing technical assistance to strengthen the GoJ’s reform, policy development and implementation, and capacity-building efforts. USAID WGA will support the following objectives: support the GoJ to define and resolve water sector strategy and policy issues; improve water entities’ performance by reducing network losses, increasing conveyance efficiencies, and improving utility cost recovery; and specific, cross-cutting objectives related to support to gender, youth, persons with disabilities (PWD), and private sector engagement.

Job Summary:

The Youth Engagement and Internships Specialist will be responsible for the administration and coordination of USAID -WGA internship program, under the overall direction of the GESI/Youth Manager and Institutional Development Team Leader. This position will also maintain relationships with universities and/or research centers related to their involvement in USAID WGA research, water conservation, and demand-management activities. This position will support the implementation of Training and Certification Program and will provide crosscutting support as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinate, and lead day-to-day administrative and technical activities of the USAID -WGA internship program; maintaining the relationships between interns and their respective supervisors/ mentors.

Maintain accurate data and records to track the activities, achievements, participation, progress, for all involved youth interns.

Support developing and conducting presentations and training sessions for the new youth interns; (including orientation sessions, new cohort kickoff workshops, GESI awareness sessions for new interns).

In close collaboration with supervisors, manage interns’ applications scoring process, and personal interviews for each internship’s cohort.

coordinate and lead day to day activities of USAID WGA Interns Community of Practice- Alumni Network.

Maintain relationships with universities and/or research centers related to their involvement in USAID WGA research, water conservation, and demand-management activities.

Support the development and implementation of training plans and certification programs

Provide cross-cutting support requested by supervisors

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent knowledge of youth status in Jordan; (Education system, Employment, limited job opportunities, youth engagement concepts and techniques, safe spaces for youth engagement, and access to resources and public services).

Proven knowledge and skills in training management; training plans development and implementation   

Excellent knowledge of water sector in Jordan, status and challenges.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with youth with diverse socio-economic backgrounds.

Knowledge and understanding of gender equality and social inclusion concepts, and PWDs.

Strong written and verbal communication skills; Arabic and English.

Strong Computer Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in :(Social Sciences, Business Administration, Public Administration, Industrial Engineering).

At least 3 years of directly-related experience working with youth, youth engagement, and internships.

At least 2 years proven experience in training programs management, training needs analysis and training plans development and implementation.

An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted, as long as it directly relates to the key responsibilities of this position.
