Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Advisor

 FHI 360 is seeking qualified applicants for the GESI Advisor for the upcoming USAID Jordan Water Efficiency and Conservation Activity. This full-time position will be based in Amman, Jordan for the USAID-funded Jordan Water Efficiency and Conservation Activity and is contingent upon funder award and approval.

The Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Advisor will:

Lead and/or collaborate with the HQ Senior Gender Advisor to conduct a gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) analysis at the beginning of the project, develop a GESI Strategy, and work with the team to implement the GESI Strategy.

Ensure that the Jordan Water Efficiency and Conservation Activity incorporates principles of gender equality and social inclusion and utilizes best practices in transforming unequal gender and power dynamics, especially with how they impact marginalized individuals

Provide technical oversight in the implementation of robust women’s and girls’ empowerment and men’s and boys’ engagement approaches.

Provide technical support to national partner organizations.

Work closely with the monitoring and evaluation activities to support the tracking of gender- and inclusion-related indicators and implement adaptive management to programming to optimize project impact through a GESI focus

Work closely with partner organizations to orient on USAID and FHI 360 standards and commitments related to gender equality, female empowerment, social inclusion and safeguarding against sexual exploitation and abuse

Collaborate with the community mobilizers to develop relevant advocacy and behavior change messaging on reducing gender biases in the target communities.

Conduct annual gender and inclusion assessments to measure progress and hone project activities.

Develop GESI-related training and other materials as needed.

Build relationships and coordinate with gender focal persons, other partners, institutions, and communities of practice in Jordan

Liaise regularly with FHI 360’s other programs in Jordan to share learning and promote promising practices for gender and inclusion integration among the WEC and other projects in Jordan.

Liaise with USAID Jordan’s gender focal point.

Participate in FHI 360 GESI community of practice

Minimum Requirements

A master’s degree or higher in the relevant subject area(s), preferably in gender, social work, public health, international development or community development required.

At least 8 years of experience working in an equivalent position of gender specialist in Jordan.

A proven record of excellent management, leadership, decision-making and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated ability to ensure gender integration in project design, implementation and M&E.

Fluent oral or signing and written communication skills in Arabic and English; ability to write effectively in English for technical documents.

Ability to navigate politically sensitive terrain and maintain constructive relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to think strategically and transmit his/her vision to partners and colleagues.

Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
