Outreach and Behavioral Change Advisor

FHI 360 is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Outreach and Behavioral Change Advisor for the upcoming USAID Jordan Water Efficiency & Conservation Activity. This will be a five-year project and recruitment is contingent upon award and funding by USAID.

The Outreach and Behavioral Change Advisor should have a community development, communications, MPH, MBA, or engineering degree with experience in coordination, planning, monitoring large scale behavior change and community mobilization programs. She/he should have a deep understanding of and experience in comprehensive behavior change methodologies, including the role of community groups, businesses, financing, and government in supporting changes in practices at household, farm and community level.

Job Summary/Responsibilities:

The Outreach and Behavior Change Advisor will have overall responsibility for technical direction and implementation of behavior change and communication activities, ensuring overall program activities achieve measurable impacts for conserving water. She/he will work closely with the COP and the project’s technical staff, other stakeholders, advertising and media related organizations and the community to ensure effective formative research, planning, delivery and documentation of the social and behavior change strategy. She/he must demonstrate exceptional technical and managerial experience, including managing complex rural and urban community mobilization and behavior change activities involving multiple program partners.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree required in: Community Development, Social and Behavior Change Communication, Social Marketing, Public Health, Health Communication, Health Promotion, Social Sciences, MPH, MBA, agriculture or engineering degree or any relevant academic areas. 

At least 8 years of experience providing leadership in behavior change and community development programs.

Experience in coordination, planning, monitoring large scale development initiatives with government and the private sector

Subject-matter expertise in behavior change communication (BCC), community mobilization, and local capacity building.

Seasoned behavior change practitioner with a deep understanding of a range of comprehensive behavior change methodologies, including the role of community groups, businesses, financing, and government in supporting changes in practices at household, farm and community level.

Experience with water supply and water conservation is preferred.

Experience working with government, businesses, and communities in Jordan is highly preferred.

Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work effectively with a variety of audiences and organizations essential. 

Experience working on USAID funded project with an understanding of USAID’s rules, and regulations preferred. 

Fluent oral or signing and written communication skills in Arabic and English; ability to write effectively in English for technical documents.

Must be self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management.
