Position: Digital communication and Media specialist (service providers)

Responsible to:

Location: Jordan, Amman with field work in Mafraq, Zarqa and Azraq.

2. DESCRIPTION OF THE ROLE:

The Digital communication and Media specialist will ensure production of high-quality communications and media content to showcase the impact of War Child’s work in Jordan. She/he will ensure delivery of written articles, photography, and video content in coordination with Jordan communication lead and communication department in Home office in Holland.

3. Purpose of the job:

· Works on the translation of War Child’s overall communication strategy into communication and digital media products.

· Contributes to enlarge the brand awareness locally, regionally and globally by ensuring quality media coverage of War Child’s activities through networking and outreach to media agencies

· Supports to ensure that all communication (through all channels) developed for the target group is correct, up to date, and according the brand guidelines and brand values of War Child.

· Produces planned videography and photography of WC projects and activities in Jordan.

· Supports to curate photo exhibitions and any WC event in Jordan.

· Supports to translate the communication strategy into communication plans for the project team(s).

· Facilitate clear briefings and debriefings to clarify the needs of the team(s).

· Maintains good working relations with all assigning parties, consults all internal stakeholders involved.

· Ensures that all needed permissions and consents are obtained from various stakeholders for communications pieces.

· Able to produce/translate communications pieces from Arabic – English and vice versa.

Result: The communication strategy is translated in communication plans, which are executed in such a way that it contributes to the overall communication strategy.

Support Role

· Gives support and input to the development and optimization of communication plans, using the required knowledge of trends, developments and evaluations in the field of development communication.

· Produces (including editing) communication means for all possible communication channels.

· Supports in communicating the right facts and figures about the programs and results of War Child programmes.

· Liaises with Communications Department staff in the Amsterdam Home Office in obtaining & writing content for all our digital platforms that is specific for the target groups of the segment team.

· Supports programmes team with external visits to the field, which may include producing briefing packs, accompanying visitors to the field, producing publications from and for the visits, etc.

· Performs any other relevant task as may be assigned.

Result: Support is (proactively) given in such a way that internal stakeholders are provided on time with sufficient information and support.

4. WORK RELATIONS

The role may involve working closely with the following stakeholders:

· Programme managers

· WC’s Partners including ministries and community-based organizations

· All staff in the WC Jordan Team

· WCH Amsterdam Home Office staff

5. Desirable Experience, Competencies and Skills

  1. Academic and Professional

· A university degree and/or certified trainings in journalism, communications, public relations, related field or equivalent years of experience.

· Excellent command in written and verbal English and Arabic.

  1. Experience

· Knowledge of communication developments in all different on- and offline channels;

· Knowledge of communication and media use of equipment. (photography and videography)

  1. Competencies

· Strong ability to express skilfully and creatively in written Arabic and English;

· Very strong prose writing skills including researching and editing;

· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others in a team environment and with people of diverse backgrounds, culture and nationalities;

· Documented capacity to deliver written work well and quickly, often under very short and tight deadlines.

· Excellent computer skills using Word, and design software’s (Adobe)

· Analytical capacity;

  1. Very Desirable

· Experience at providing support, guidance and trainings on Communications to implementing partners and staff.

· Knowledge and experience in Child Rights and Child protection.
