ABOUT RI: Relief International (RI) specializes in relief and development programs that benefit people in acute distress. A registered non-profit in the US, UK, France and Belgium, our work targets those fragile countries or communities that suffer from man-made or natural crises that impede human development. The people that we serve live in 16 countries across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia where the debilitating effects of political instability, forced displacement, and natural disasters are pervasive. RI has been working in Jordan since 2004, providing vital services to refugees and vulnerable host communities across the country.

Position Summary

The Protection and Youth Program Coordinator will play pivotal role in leading the implementation of RI's Protection and Youth interventions in host community. S/he will supervise and support protection officers and youth coordinator on day-to-day field-level implementation in target schools and community centers, and will be responsible for overall efficient and effective functioning of protection and youth activities in the four governorates (Amman, Zarqa, Irbid, and Mafraq). S/he will also coordinate with the protection advisor, education program coordinator at target schools, and protection and youth staff at partner community center(s) to follow up on the technical aspects of the program at these sites. S/he will support program planning and monitoring, facilitating logistic operations, capacity building, providing staff coordination, and resolving site-level implementation issues. S/he will have direct contact with MoE’s protection and youth focal points who support the program implementation in schools, and will support the development of monthly, quarterly, and final reports against indicators. This full-time, benefitted position reports to the Program Manager.

Position Responsibilities and Duties

Ensure efficient implementation of the protection and youth interventions in host community in line with the approved program proposal and budget, as well as anticipating issues and suggested solutions to the Program Manager to ensure adjustments are made to facilitate high quality service provision in line with program strategies.

Coordinate with senior site-level program and operational staff to develop detailed work-plans and follow-up regularly with team members to ensure that activities are on track.

Contribute to the development and implementation of new strategies and activities to enhance program delivery in line with the identified needs of the beneficiaries and local community.

Ensure ongoing monitoring and evaluation of activities, ensuring RI standards are in place and with flagging of any concerns to the Program Manager.

Support and strengthen community and learner feedback mechanisms which enhance their active engagement and participation.

Regularly provide written programmatic reports and contribute to the preparation of status and progress reports.

Promote positive environment at the program implementation sites and within the team promoting and leading internal communications and collaboration across multiple sub-teams.

Facilitate recruitment of staff, staff supervisions and performance evaluations in line with RI HR procedures.

Support and coordinate trainings to educational team members, partners and the wider RI team in line with capacity building plans and expertise as well as identifying training gaps.

Act as a mentor and role model for less experienced staff.

Promote child protection and gender mainstreaming and ensure their implementation in the field.

Work closely with logistics staff to ensure operations at program implementation sites are smooth and efficient.

Work closely with MEAL team to ensure proper data collection, management, and archiving. 

Represent RI, in collaboration with the Program Manager, with peer agencies, partner organizations, government agencies, public services, community leaders, parent groups and other stakeholders.

On the field level, coordinate for donor field visits.

Perform any other work related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager.

Qualifications and requirements:

Minimum requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Educational Counselling/Social Work/Youth development or similar field.

Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience.    

Experience working with children and youth.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning and problem-solving skills required, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen and respect for colleagues and partners.

Excellent time management skills and resourcefulness with strong attention to detail.

Excellent analytical and organizational skills.

High level of creativity and coordination.

Fluency in Arabic and English is required.

Information and computer literacy (MS Office package).
