Deputy Chief of Party

OSC seeks well-qualified applicants for a Deputy Chief of Party (COP) for the anticipated USAID Jordan Women’s Economic Empowerment and Leadership Activity (WEELA). The purpose of this activity is to contribute to increasing women’s access to employment and leadership in Jordan by improving women’s access to the job market, enhancing the enabling environment, and addressing inequalities and prohibitive social norms and traditions. This activity has three specific objectives: 1) Improve women’s access to jobs in the private sector and leadership opportunities in the private and public sectors; 2) Improve supported perceptions, practices, and advocacy; and 3) Stimulate and enforce more equitable, safe, and accessible working environments.

Position Description

The DCOP will provide technical oversight, oversee staff and consultants, support the development of work plans, reports, and other project documents, and liaise with private and public sector partners. S/he should have demonstrated broad management and team building experience; technical knowledge of strategies related to economic growth and development, gender mainstreaming and women’s empowerment, and/or social and behavior change communication; and experience in Jordan and/or the Middle East. S/he will report directly to the Chief of Party. This is a long-term (five-year) position based in Amman, Jordan.

Requirements

Master’s degree in areas such as international development, economic development, or gender studies
Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience working in international development, including direct supervision of professional and support staff
Experience managing complex donor-funded projects; previous DCOP role on USAID-funded activities strongly preferred
Experience overseeing development of social behavior change communications (SBCC) strategies, workforce development initatives, and policy advocacy strongly preferred
Demonstrated extensive knowledge of women’s economic empowerment issues in Jordan and/or the Middle East
Excellent oral and written English and Arabic language communication skills
